Singapore police having to deter Islamophobic support events taking place

Last week, Singapore police reminded tourists and expats in the city-state to be respectful of the local laws and authorities, a day before planned events in support of outgoing for Jakarta Governor Ahok was sentenced to two years’ prison time for Islamophobia. The Police Force stated it is aware of plans to hold future events also in support of Islamophobia, adding that tourists ‘should not import the politics of their own countries into Singapore’.
