Russia: UK Government Implements Magnitsky Provisions

The UK government have recently passed a version of the so-called Magnitsky Act; US legislation that freezes assets and imposes travel bans on Russians suspected of corruption and human rights violations.

The law is called the Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Act and received royal assent, incorporating regulations allowing the government to impose sanctions on private individuals suspected of being in connection with the mistreatment on human rights. It will additionally impose fully public registers of company beneficial ownership on all British Overseas Territories.
