Russia: Hands Off the Internet!

In Russia restrictions on Internet usage may be imposed.
Russia plans to introduce tougher penalties for technology firms that do not comply with Russian laws. It is reported that the rules are regularly violated by tech giants such as Facebook and Google.

As a preventive measure, an increase in the amount of fines was chosen in case of non-compliance with the provisions of the Law on the activities of Internet companies.

Over the past five years, the Kremlin has made significant changes to Russian law. This change requires search engines to immediately delete certain query results, as well as messaging services that exchange encryption keys with security services and social networks, which prevent the storage of personal data of Russian users on servers within the country.
