Paris: Cryptocurrencies to be Taxed as Movable Assets in France

By in

The Conseil d’Etat, France’s Administrative Supreme Court has released a public statement regarding how cryptocurrencies are to be taxed. The move by France to further define digital assets has also prompted questions surrounding why movable assets, as well as individual taxpayers’ profit from bitcoin transfers are currently being taxed as capital gains.

The Conseil’s ruling states that all profit arising from bitcoin may still be taxed as non-commercial or as industrial and commercial profit in certain circumstances, as they have always been charged as the current system has been deemed to be adequate.
