No Beneficial Ownership Register Until 2019 for the Netherlands

The Dutch government has released a statement announcing the postponement of the introduction of a company beneficial ownership register until 2019 at the earliest. The register should have been effective since June 2017, under the schedule first set by the EU Fourth Anti-Money Laundering Directive.

The EU’s newest adoption of the latest Fifth Anti-Money Laundering Directive has made the Netherlands to further delay the UBO-register as the country struggles to keep up the fast-changing legislation around the matter, which will now have to be extended to cover trusts as well as companies.
