Russian oligarch, Vladimir Potanin, has a USD $30 billion fortune of which, his ex-wife, Natalia Potanina, is now demanding USD $15 billion. Mr Potanin built his empire through the metal corporation Norilsk Nickel, various investments under the holding company, Interros and the oil company, Sidanco. Potanin co-controlled Interros with his joint owner Mikhail Prokhorov, and expanded into diverse areas of the Russian economy such as banking, finance, media and journalism.
After their divorce in 2014, Natalia Potanina was granted USD $4.8 million from the sale of their luxury apartment in Moscow and three plots of land. However, Natalia has now filed a lawsuit requesting half of her estranged ex-husband’s fortune as per claims that he disguised his prime assets in offshore companies. The Courts have been told by Mr Pontanin that he is currently living on USD $480,000 and is unfortunately no longer a billionaire, therefore making him the fourth richest man in Russia.
