images At the invitation of the Chairman of the State Duma Sergey Naryshkin, House President Yiannakis Omirou and a parliamentary delegation arrived in Moscow on Wednesday for an official two-day visit. The highlight was a two-hour meeting with Russian Deputy Energy Minister Yury Sentyurin. Omirou pointed out that the presence of senior officials of Russian energy companies demonstrated Russian interest, in participating, in the development of the natural gas industry, in Cyprus. The Cypriot delegation was asked to provide information on the construction of a liquefaction plant for the export of natural gas, along with details of the on-going procedures regarding natural gas in Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone. In addition, the parliamentary delegation was informed about Russia’s strategic interest in the energy developments of the Eastern Mediterranean region, said Omirou.
