The chief operating officer of Facebook and founder of Leanin.org, Sheryl Sandberg had a press conference last week in which she discussed global competitiveness and the implication of breaking-up large US technology firms such as Google and Facebook.

Ms Sandberg was interviewed on US television network CNBC TV, and was asked about the latest public demands to break up Facebook and other influential tech firms in Silicon Valley which dominate key sectors. She would not acknowledge any underlying issues facing the sector and proposed that such moves in the US would actually help rival companies in China. ‘You could break us and other tech firms up, however this would not address the fundamental concerns the public have been speaking out about.’ Ms Sandberg boldly quoted.
