European Parliament Members Warn Cyprus of Cooperation with Russia

By in

Several members of the European Parliament warned the President of Cyprus about possible consequences or even sanctions if Cyprus and Russia cooperate in conducting an investigation in the case concerning the founder of Hermitage Capital Bill Browder.

It was stated that Cyprus is not obliged to cooperate with Russia regarding a politically motivated case and has the right to respond to the Russian Federation with a refusal. In this regard, it was recommended to hold consultations on the observance of human rights and the rule of law within this issue, firstly within the state and with the European Commission and the Council of Europe.
