The European Parliament has reportedly cautioned President Anastasiades that “Cyprus could see some strict consequences” including embargoes in the event that it continues its close relationship with Russia in a test against the founder of the Hermitage Capital.

Cyprus may receive penalties from the EU for the annulment of its responsibilities in the region of control of legislation and human rights, as well as sanctions accessible under Article 7 of the Lisbon Treaty.
