As a result of the European Council meeting held on March 21st-22nd 2019, it became known that in April the EU would discuss a defensive strategy towards China.
On Thursday, March 21st, leaders of 27 European countries met to discuss Brexit. The next day they focused on the economy and the upcoming summit with China. At the upcoming summit, the officials will exchange views on relations with China in a global context.
At the moment, the EU is worried that China has free access to European markets while Beijing is not so loyal to the presence of European companies in the Chinese market. Caught between China and the United States, EU leaders are looking for ways out of this situation.
