A Dutch family has sold their home, two cars, motorbike and their business snd invested the money in bitcoin.
39 year old Didi Taihuttu is now living in a camping ground with his family as he says that the family is “putting everything into bitcoin”. 3 months ago, Taihuttu, his wife and three daughters who are aged 12,10 and 7, started living in a small holiday chalet in a camping site in eastern Venlo and continue to watch their savings.
However, bitcoins can be exchanged for goods, services and other currencies provided that the other party involved is willing to accept the virtual currency. Bitcoin has no central bank, no government backing and is generally not recognised as a valid currency.
Taihuttu and his family continue to liquidate assets and investing the takings in cryptocurrencies. Apparently, the proceeds from trading is sufficient enough for food and necessities for now according to the family.
