Difficulties around the payroll tax legislation and its application to Cyprus offshore employees working in EU countries

This legal case will be especially interesting to EU citizens that live and work out of their home countries. The European Court of Human Rights is now considering a legal case Bogdan Chain v. Atlanco Ltd., a Cyprus subsidiary of an Irish recruitment company. Atlanco hired workers in Eastern Europe and sent them to Northern European countries under short-term labour contracts. This aroused a number of issues related to the correctness of social tax paid from earnings of these employees in the countries of their temporary work.
