According to the World’s Safest Countries rating compiled by the financial magazine Global Finance, Iceland comes first and the Philippines comes in last.
The analysis showed that in Iceland despite active volcanoes the level of risk to life is very low, as well as the level of crime.
The safest countries for life are Iceland, Switzerland, Finland, Portugal, Austria, Norway, Qatar, Singapore, Denmark and New Zealand. Some states, such as Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq, do not appear on the list at all.
For a more comprehensive analysis of the countries’ safety, such risk factors as natural disasters, the level of crime, terrorism, the possibility of the outbreak of hostilities, and the ability of people to protect themselves from problems associated with hunger and disease were all factors taken into account.
