Cyprus: Naturalisation Scheme Accounts for Almost Half of Investment in the Economy

From 2014 to 2017, foreign direct investment in Cyprus amounted to approximately EUR €9.2 billion. At the same time, EUR €4.2 billion of this amount came from participants in various naturalisation programmes.

The sectors of the economy seeing significant amount of investments are shipping, banking, retail, tourism, pharmaceuticals and energy. It is reported that such figures for total foreign direct investment in Cyprus over a 3 year period for an island and population of its size is ‘quite satisfactory.’
