March 11th is the deadline for paying transport tax in Cyprus and the authorities are calling for its payment from all residents. Firstly, this is due to large fines for any delays. Therefore, after the aforementioned date Cypriots will have to pay a fine of EUR €10 and 10% of the total tax amount.
It is worth pointing out that the main purpose of collecting the duty is to find funds for the repairs and construction of new roads on the island. This payment is obligatory for all legal and physical persons who have a car and the amount of the fee will depend on its engine capacity. There are also various payment options and the opportunity to refuse to pay at all in case you isn’t going to drive a car for a year.
