Cyprus considers restrictions on the issuance of Cyprus passports in exchange for investment

The Cyprus Minister of Finance noted that the Cyprus program ‘Cyprus passport for investment’ has already injected more than €4 billion into the economy of the island.

According to the Minister, the Cypriot government will continue to work on the program in order to bring the much needed investment into the island’s economy. Nevertheless, the Minister of Finance noted that the Government of Cyprus is considering limiting the number of passports issued under the venture. Perhaps the authorities are afraid of overpopulating such a cozy little Cyprus, which, with the current pace of implementation of the program, which seems to be becoming more of a reality as time goes on.
