Caribbean Island St Lucia Rescinds Citizenship of 6 Investors

By in

The St Lucia government has revoked the citizenship of six foreign investors who obtained nationality through the country’s Citizenship by Investment Programme (CIP), as the individuals supposedly ‘committed acts which may bring St Lucia’s reputation into disgrace’.

The revocation was reported in the official St Lucia Gazette under a special prime ministerial decree cited as the Citizenship by Investment (Revocation) Order 2018.

Since the schemes conceptualisation in 2015, a reported 260 investors have been granted St Lucian nationality under the CIP, which in light of recent events may bring the schemes credibility under questioning.
