This week, US shares were down as predicted on opening, with customarily highly-valued technology shares feeling the pressure after a spell of record growth and strong quarterly earnings. The stock market index dropped by 2.7% last week, which started with Apple shares and then snowballed, following reports that the company is using slower modems than its rivals. Other top technology stocks were also in the red, including companies such as Facebook, Microsoft and Netflix.
