UK: New Fingerprint Scanners to Identify Suspects

Fingerprint scanners will be provided to UK policemen to immediately identify suspected perpetrators of crimes and illegal immigrants. Two hundred and fifty new handheld devices are being tested in West Yorkshire, UK before they are used by police throughout the country.

Scanners costing a minimum of £300 each, and can be used by any officer to remove two fingerprints from the suspect. According to the head of the police department, the devices will save time while identifying suspects and, thus will reduce the level of crime.
