The police interrogated the head of the RoC’s Central Bank of Cyprus regarding the published data on non-performing loans to members of the Cypriot Parliament. According to information leaked to the press members in the Cypriot parliament are in arrears to the BOC and other Cypriot banks near to the sum of €51 million, while the maintenance-free part is €35 million. In addition, certain members of the Cyprus Parliament will act as a guarantor for loans near to the sum of €47 million. It is not surprising that the adoption of such laws on the recovery of collateral on non-performing loans has caused such resistance in the Parliament of Cyprus.
