A temporary casino is due to open in Limassol on the 28th of June since recently receiving its licence. CEO and chairman of the Melco Group, Lawrence Ho, stated that the temporary casino would be in place at the end of June following the main casino resort planned to be constructed in Zakaki, Limassol.
The temporary casino which is located on Roosevelt Avenue, has already recruited 593 employees, of which the vast majority is Cypriot at 75% of the workforce.
The casino will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and will be located in the building that used to be a former Orphanides supermarket.
The president of the integrated casino resort, Craig Ballantyne, reportedly stated that the casino has a capacity for approximately 1,200 people and is expected to attract about 25,000 people per month. Ballantyne also stated that EUR €12 million has been spent on the temporary casino which will close in 2021, when the integrated casino resort will open with all of the personnel transferring to the new casino resort.
