Transport analysts last week welcomed the news that a foreign operator finalised the details of a number of bus routes under the government’s bus planning model, stating that the development would stir up the public transport sector and serve as a “wake-up call” for public transport operators SMRT and SBS Transit. Although at the moment, these companies have the majority of the market share in the Singapore transport sector, they failed in their bids for these routes, which some are hoping will improve the service generally.
