King Salman and Vladimir Putin have signed energy deals and a slew of arms on Thursday the 5th of October on King Salman’s landmark visit to Russia. The US strives to strengthen their cooperation with Moscow.
The two leaders have now signed a number of multi-billion investment agreements including a deal to create a USD $1 billion fund to seek energy projects.
The heads of the world’s largest energy exporters discussed developing an OPEC (Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) agreement in order to cut down on oil output. The leaders oversaw the signing of deals that officials have stated are worth billions of dollars.
The Sunni state’s military firm, Saudi Arabian Military Industries has stated that Saudi Arabia has signed initial agreements to purchase Russia’s S-400 air defence systems and anti-tank guided missile systems.
Following this, an agreement has been reached on a USD $3 billion deal to supply Saudi Arabia with the S400 Triumph, which is Russia’s most elite air defense missile system, according to other sources. It is also said that there may be future deals on aircraft and helicopters, depending on the outcome of the talks.
