At a conference in Limassol held on the 25th of April Russian Ambassador to Cyprus, Stanislav Osadchiy stated that one of the pillars of the partnership between Cyprus and Russia is their active cooperation within the economic sphere.
‘We are pleased that after the financial crisis in Cyprus, the economy is recovering in line with the projected growth rate.’ Mr Osadchiy said in his keynote speech. He expressed the opinion that this would not have been possible without effective measures taken by the government leaders whose anti-crisis policies are gradually helping to restore the activities of Cyprus in the international investment arena.
He also noted that the Russian Federation is helping to restore the island’s economy, recalling that the Russian government recently decided to restructure the loan previously granted to Cyprus. In addition, more and more Russian companies open representative offices and expand their activities on the island.
The Russian ambassador expressed his belief in the existence of brilliant prospects for economic relations between Russia and Cyprus. He also thanked Nicosia for its position on the ‘anti-Russian campaign being carried out by some countries’.
