Singapore Will Host the 2020 International Trademark Association
Singapore has been chosen to host the world's biggest trademark event in 2020, announced the INTA last week. The association's 142nd annual meeting will be held from April 25th to April 29th 2020 at the infamous Marina Bay Sands resort.
The International Trademark Association (INTA) revealed a press release showing the events location in the city-state. This will be the first time that the meeting is held in Southeast Asia, registration for Singapore's event will commence shortly. The last gathering hosted approximately 11,000 Trademark Practitioners & Intellectual Property (IP) specialists from over 150 countries from around the world; the first trademark event was also held in Asia in 2014 however in Hong Kong.
The association decided to hold another after the success of the Hong Kong event, INTA’s Board of Directors approved a rotation policy to host the annual meeting in a location outside the United States every three years.
The INTA gave the following reasons for selecting Singapore for hosting the 2020 gathering:
- There is a vibrant business environment.
- There is a large cultural diversity.
- There is ease of accessibility, Singapore being a central place between all continents.
- Singapore has had previous outstanding achievements within the IP sector.
The Chief Executive of Intellectual Property Office of Singapore hopes that the conference will bring the Singapore innovation bionetwork to the global community of trademark experts and intellectual property specialists together who will learn from each other’s best practices and expertise.
