The government in Cyprus have recently confirmed that they will be amending the requirements of the islands golden visa or citizenship-by-investment scheme, following OECD and the European Union’s recommendations.
Specific details of the new requirements will be released shortly however the government have confirmed that going forward, applicants for the Republic of Cyprus golden visa scheme will have to:
Undergo background checks by an intermediary specialist body.
and must already have rights to a Schengen visa (allowing freedom of travel within the Schengen area for up to 90 days or 3 months).
Applicants can no longer have previously applied for and been rejected from any other citizenship-by-investment schemes from any EU jurisdictions.
