UK to Implement Lugano Convention After Brexit

The UK government has declared its intention to accede in its own right to the Lugano Convention 2007 into local law at the end of the EU exit (Brexit) transition period towards the end of the year in December 2020.

Experts hope the move will provide clarity on legislation in the following areas:

  • Civil disputes in the UK.
  • Family law matters (some international).
  • Commercial cross-border disputes.
