Potato import from North to South causes tensions in Greek Cyprus
Over 2015, the agricultural product import from Northern to Southern Cyprus amounted to approximately 4m euros. This raised discontent and objections from some Southern farmers. One Greek farmer importing potatoes from the Turkish part of Cyprus complained about the constant threats to burn his factory where the imported potatoes are packed. According to newspaper articles, arson is a very popular way to settle accounts.
