London drops out of top 100 most expensive cities to live in 2017

For the first time in five years, London has fallen out of the world’s top 100 most expensive cities to live in the world for expats, a survey published by ECA International found. The Brexit vote last year weakened the UK sterling which had a direct effect on the economy, thereby making it cheaper to live in the UK capital than Paris, Bangkok and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil in 132nd place. The UK will hold elections this week which will impact the ranking greatly depending on the outcome. There are possibilities of a hung parliament which will further weaken the UKs negotiating position in Brexit and consequently the strength of the pound. If the pound weakens; UK cities will probably continue to fall in rankings.
