In Response to US Sanctions Russia no Longer Accepts USD
To counterbalance the American sanctions, Russian oil and gas suppliers are demanding to use euros instead of dollars for international payments.
Now, western energy buyers have a difficult choice: either to completely abandon imported raw materials from Russia or in order to avoid huge penalties under the terms of the contracts for 2019, they must pay in Euro.
For Russia, the pressure it exerts on the western oil buyers may result in the loss of a large number of consumers. By using euro instead of dollar, Moscow is trying to defend itself against any possible new sanctions from the United States.
