Cyprus Inland Revenue Department Head compared his work with the Augean stables fable

The Head of the Inland Revenue department compared his work regarding the order establishment with cleaning out the Augean stables. For example, he said that at the beginning of 2015 there were over 30,000 unprocessed appeals, only 60% of which were accomplished over the year.

The main problem lies with working inefficiency, outdated technologies and the low standard of employee’s professional qualifications.

Local trade unions at once turned against the official, urging him to apologise and take his words back.
