Cyprus Considers Bill Providing Additional Protection for Whistle-blowers on Corruption

On Wednesday, a discussion was held on a bill submitted by the Cyprus Ministry of Finance in order to provide additional measures to protect individuals who are willing to report incidents of corruption in both public and private access.

The bill also provides for greater leniency in respect of people reporting cases in which they are involved since they fully cooperate with the authorities to disclose all members who have committed corrupt acts.

The president of the House legal committee, Georgios Georgiou stated that before the bill is presented at the plenary session, it will be discussed next Wednesday in connection with some amendment proposals, which are also supported by the Cyprus Ministry of Justice.
