Cyprus: ‘Unfathomable’ levels of corruption

During an event regarding combating corruption in Cyprus on Monday at the University of Nicosia, Attorney-general Costas Clerides and Auditor-general Odysseas Michaelides indicated that cases of corruption have doubled since 2014 in Cyprus. These levels of corruption are a lot higher than expected and there is no doubt that the situation requires a policy of zero tolerance. Importantly, Cyprus is currently trying to consolidate 24 laws on the matter into a unified piece of legislation.
