Cyber Attackers Targeted Dutch Banks and Governmental Services
Over the last week, the three biggest Dutch banks have been hit by cyber attackers, who blocked the access to their websites and online banking services. At the same time, cyber attackers also attacked the Dutch Revenue System, by getting down its website. At the same day, some hours later, the online national digital system accepted a cyber-attack, which disabled the access to more than 12 million citizens who use the system.
Although the attackers did not hack the private data of the customers and citizens, these incidents are serious and they will be investigated further. The chief of the Central Bank said that it was not the first time Dutch Banks have been hit by cyber attackers and this is a kind of a daily incident which cannot be completely avoided, taking into account the reality of the technologically modernized world.
In conclusion, the Dutch anti-terror chief advised that the only way to minimise the possibilities of cyber-attacks is to invest in digital safety.
