Mexico claims billions back in unpaid tax during Q1 alone

Mexico’s tax authority has stated that as a result of directly enforced actions against those with tax debts, the government has raised an additional USD $1.3B during Q1 of 2017 alone. With just under half of this figure being collected by seizing funds stored in cash deposit boxes and bank accounts, including auctioning off debtors’ assets. The tax agency released a statement claiming that Mexican authorities to assist taxpayers by providing them with easy to use, free tools to comply with their tax obligations and offering those who fall behind on their tax payments the option to pay in installments.
