Every two years, Limassol host’s it’s bi-annual Maritime Cyprus conference, and will hold it this year in September.
The conference usually attracts the elite from the global shipping market, and it is expected to have more than 1,000 attendees according to the General Director of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, Thomas Kazakos. The Maritime Cyprus conference is one of the few shipping conferences that take place globally Mr. Kazakos continued.
Participants from over 30 different countries are expected to be in attendance, with the total number of participants around 700. Other participants are anticipated to be from Cyprus, either from shipping companies and organisations, and will bring the participation number to more than 1000.
One of the advantages hosting the conference, is the reputation for Cyprus that it is becoming a reliable maritime centre and hub, which is beneficial for the economy. As well as being an opportunity to promote Cyprus as a business centre.
The 35 speakers will cover a range of issues related to international shipping, the world economy the shipping cycle and the politics involved in the shipping business. As Mr. Kazakos comments, this year a new subject will be included in the agenda: Geopolitical developments and how they affect the shipping industry.
Nonetheless, the Maritime Cyprus conference has been organised for the last 25 years, and it will be a great success as it has been in the past.
