As developments progress for the exploration of Block 11 (a new potential natural gas source on unclaimed territory which lies below the stretch of sea between Cyprus and Lebanon) by energy giant Total, hydrocarbons experts have labelled the result as a make or break for the gas potential of Cyprus’ offshore carbonate formations. “We are of course optimistic as we will be targeting the same carbonate formations as the Zohr (Egypt) discovery. However it remains an exploration well which means that it is not certain of whether or not we will find gas.”
