HMRC: Consultation on Non-UK Residents' Stamp Duty Surcharge

As announced last November, the HMRC (the body that deals with taxation and administration in the UK) wants to implement a surcharge tax for non-residents. The Prime Minister has recently updated plans to hold an assembly seeking views the design and implementation of a 1% stamp duty increase for non-UK resident house buyers who purchase residential property in England and Northern Ireland (Scotland & Wales will be excluded).
