Global weaponry trade reaches highest peak since the cold war

The global transfer of major weapons systems rose over the past five years to the highest volume since the cold war era as the Middle East has nearly doubled its imports. The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute have stated that more weapons were delivered between the 2012 – 2016 period than any other since the 1990s. Saudi Arabia was the world’s second largest importer after India, increasing its intake by over 200%, predominantly from the UK & US.
