Other countries are feeling the effects of the Chinese economic slowdown, as reports from Paris show a huge drop in demand for French wine to the Asian superpower. Slowdown in demand for luxurious goods are the first indicators of a consumption slump, industry experts commented.

The Federation for Wine and Spirit Exporters (FEVS) released figures for direct sales to mainland China, (historically France’s third-largest export market) dropped by 15.4% throughout 2018 to USD $1.13 billion.
