French Resident to Pay UK Court Maintenance Fees Before Appealing Divorce Claims

By in

A French national currently residing in the UK has received a so-called Hadkinson order that stops her husband living in France, from following his appeal against the decision of the UK Divorce Forum until he pays her GBP £150,000 in maintenance and legal cost payments.

Mr Orenga de Gafforj has been given until next week to make the transfer of required funds, otherwise his claim will be rejected with immediate affect; and the wife’s UK separation petition allowed to go ahead. (This is the first matrimonial case of this kind and the precedent for following cases has been set as per De Gafforj v De Gafforj 2018).
