FATF Stresses Need for AML Regime to Comply With Privacy Rights

The international Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has reported to G20 Finance Ministers on outcomes from its recent plenary meeting.

Among others, it has revised its recommendations to emphasise the need for each jurisdiction’s money laundering regulations to be compatible with data protection and privacy rules. It also announced a new workstream on the money laundering risks associated with virtual currencies.
