ECB Closes Down its Website After Being Compromised in Cyberattack

The European Central Bank has had to close down one of its subscriber databases after hackers injected malware onto the server and stole subscribers’ data such as emails and passwords.

The ECB is contacting people whose data may have been affected. The website is known as BIRD: and stands for the Banks’ Integrated Reporting Dictionary; which was being hosted by an unnamed, external internet service provider. No doubt the company responsible is private and wishes to remain out of the spotlight for the mishap.
