Participants involved in the tourist sector attended a two-day workshop in Cyprus this week with the aim to improve general tourist safety on the island. Members of the Police, the Foreign Ministry and the Lifesaving Federation were also in attendance at the event. The main areas of concern were excessive alcohol consumption amongst younger travellers, the safety of beach goers and those swimming in rough seas, theft and harassment targets, road accidents with rental vehicles and international relations.
