Cyprus, Greece and Israel have stated their continued commitment and have vowed to speed up plans for the development of a pipeline which will channel gas to Europe from newly discovered east Mediterranean reserves in Israel, setting a target completion date of 2025. “We agreed to advance our joint efforts regarding our agreement on the construction of a large construction project which will offer new prospects of economic cooperation with Middle Eastern countries” Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras told a news conference in Thessaloniki.
