Cyprus Authorities Intend to Legalise Cannabis on the Island

By in

In late November, the authorities of Cyprus considered the issue of voting for the legalisation of medical marijuana. That being said, the bill “On narcotic and psychotropic substances” was introduced back in 2017. All this time, the law has remained unaccepted because it was not possible to resolve the issue of protecting plants with the amount of sales of medical marijuana by prescription.

According to the text of the bill, a license for the removal and processing of cannabis will be issued for 15 years with the possibility of further prolongation, and sales can be carried out only in public pharmacies. However, it will be able to be bought as a “last bid” to the terminally ill: people in Cyprus whose diseases are on a verified list.
