The Rosneft subsidiary, Rosneft Vietnam B.V., is concerned about Beijing’s reaction to the drilling in the South China Sea. The concerns are due to the water area whereby the Lan Do deposit is located in the South China Sea is considered by China to be its own.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang warned that such actions could negatively affect China’s relations with countries that violate its rights.

Earlier, the Vietnamese government has already faced China’s discontent about attempts to develop deposits in this zone. In the light of this, Rosneft Vietnam tried not to attract attention to its work in the South China Sea, officials reported.
