By in

Following the UK government’s agreement that it will consult the Cayman Islands government about any proposed UK legislation affecting the jurisdiction going forward. The Cayman Premier Sr. Alden McLaughlin have called for public comments and suggestions regarding the resulting package of constitutional reforms for the island.

The UK concessions resulted from the reaction in the Cayman Islands over Westminster’s enactment of the Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Bill in May 2018, which included clauses obliging the Cayman Islands to set up public registers for the purpose of storing and displaying company beneficial ownership. The consultation for comment closes on December 20th 2019.
